http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3geH5zgNcE This summer my husband and I vacationed on Block Island, RI. The beaches are very rocky and I got it into my head to look for hearts of stone. This is a video of some of the rocks we found. The whole time we searched we sang the Rolling Stones, "Oh you'll never break, never break, never break, this heart of stone." One strange thing happened...when I took a picture of one wet rock, it took my picture back in the reflection on it's surface. [/url]
Very clever and fun to watch. It's amazing how many hearts shaped objects there are in nature if you are looking for them. Happy Valentine's Day and thanks for sharing.
I loved it and I am a rock hound.I could see so much more than hearts in your stones.Thank for the video as I usually can't get them on dial up but did today.
Thanks Gfreiherr, and Glendann, I love the rocks on Block Island. The waves break over them, and when the water recedes the rocks make the most beautiful music. You would love this island if you are a rock hound.
Very interesting. Isn't mother nature wonderful? All the different shapes, each one a bit different, just like all of us.Sounds like a great place to visit. Thanks for sharing your vacation with us. I enjoyed it very much.
Ahhh someone with the same passion of stones that I have. :-D I've found so many that have had weird and wonderful shapes. I once found one that looked exactly like a seal(complete with flippers, tail and even an eye) and polished it up and gave it to my daughter.
Drissel, what a great story and video and soooooo romantic. You and your husband must be kindred spirits... lovely. I'm a rock lover too, there are rocks (and shells) in every room of my house. I ask people to bring them from other places, even other countries; I pick them up wherever I go. My niece and I sometimes paint and decorate them. I've carried them back from my grandparents homestead to put in my gardens. They mean a lot to me... It's so nice to be in the company of other rock hounds!!
Thank you Kuntrygal, and Eileen I am sure you must also find animals in clouds??? In driftwood and all kinds of other natural things...I do too. Daisybeans, I bring them home too...A lot of them are in my garden now. I have to watch though, and make sure they don't sink into the soil and disappear.
Yes I can see animals and many other things in clouds and have discovered some wonderfully contorted pieces of driftwood that I've added to my garden. Isn't nature wonderful? :-D
