So I quit trying to do anything outside. I gotta earn a living working in it, I ain't about to try to enjoy my passion for gardening in it! A few sprinkles here and there, I surely do need some rain. A customer, that is a contractor, was digging a sewer line yesterday. He said that there is no soil moisture to 6 feet. A couple miles or less away, a bud got 3/4 of an inch yesterday. Me? Less than a .10th . I went ahead and dusted the cabbage, just so it would rain. Maybe I should wash the car too!
Sounds like our situation here too. My inlaws in Kansas say it's the same there also, this heat wave has really taken over the plains of the US. I'm not seeing much change for the next 10 days in the long range forecast here. Will water a few things, but not much, most my gardens will be on their own to survive.
They update this heat map every three days with a forecast for the next three days. The extreme heat is covering pretty much all of the lower 48 and into Canada. http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/heat_index ... _day3.html
We got a heavy rain and high wind about an hour ago.Ialmost lost my new little hibiscus I had planted a few days ago.I had the plants started in the house. It has cooled us down really well.
