We have had two days of very heavy rains and more coming. I have spent hours staking up plants. Corn, peppers, eggplant & bush beans flattened. Onions are all flat on the ground. What do I do about the onions? Tomatoes, hollyhock and sunflowers still standing proud. Gardening sure is a challenge.

Donna, after one of our Texas downpours, I let the plants alone for a couple of days. Most will stand up on their own. Those that don't I give some support. Don't worry about the onions. The operational part is underground, and whether the green is upright or prone, it will still be feeding the root.

What a bummer, Donna. Hopefully after the rain they will stand back up...maybe not the onions, though. You may need to harvest them and replant. I have never had much success with them after they fall over. that is the end for them here.
