Well it is that time of year again. It feels a little late as they are just really getting going, but are such a delight to have some things blooming. oooh your hellebores are so pretty, Ive always wanted some of those...I just dont think my yard is ready for em yet lol
You all are so kind! Stratsmom and Bip do save some space under a deciduous tree for them. They like the dappled shade in the summer and sun in the winter. I put my first plants under a cherry tree. The white one is a seedling from one of those plants.
OMG I Love those helleborus. Over here, in my garden, I only have the wild ones someone collected for me from the woods. This is it. The pic is from 2010. As you can see... can't really compete with yours!
How sweet yours is. It is like a miniature. Thanks so much for sharing. I had no idea where they originated from. Too bad I can't send seed. They are prolific self sewers in my front yard, and full of seeds every year.
My hellebore are in full bloom just now too. They certainly add a nice touch of colour to the garden at this time of year don't they?. I have three colours - white, pink and a double purple. I don't have any winter flowering heathers as mine all start to bloom in August so it's lovely to see looking so perky and pretty.
Thanks deep woods and Eileen. Eileen you'll have to share photos. I think it might have been your double that started my search for double hellebores. This is only the first full year for all but one so they are still on the smaller sized clumps. I thought that my winter/early spring heathers might be good in your locale. I thought they came from the alpine regions of Europe but I could be wrong. They sure help my winter blahs
