Hey everyone, Just introducing myself here. I'm from St. Louis and really interested in experimental (yet effective) growing techniques for improving crops. For the time being, I electrify my crops with low levels of electricity but I'm also interested in using sound waves, various forms of prayer, subtle energies, etc. I'm also interested in using open-source high tech or appropriate technology in the garden. Gardening style-wise, I like the permaculture approach of holistic ecological system design... Cool stuff. Looking forward to getting to know you. - David
Hi David, welcome to GardenStew from Chelmsford, MA. What part of the growing process does electrification stimulate? A quick thought about the process leads to questions about voltage, current flow, timing, waveform shape and soil characteristics. Interesting idea. Jerry
Hi Mart, Carolyn, and Jerry: Thanks for the welcome... Regarding the electroculture process, you're exactly right - all of those parameters have an effect on the degree to which the plants are positively (or negatively) stimulated. Regarding which parts of the plant are stimulated, all of it can be affected. Here's a concept-map I once put together. Conceptmap of physiological effects of electricity on plants. Hi ElectroGrow /David and a hearty welcome to GardenStew! There is such a lovely group of gardeners here. You will enjoy it
David sending you a snowy welcome aboard from a Stewbie in Wisconsin. Your ideas are very interesting. Way over my head but always wanting to learn better gardening techniques. The only thing I use electricity for in my garden is to keep the raccoons out of it. :-D Glad you found this great online community with folks from all over the world.
