    Hello

    'farawaysister' told me about this site, it looks great; nice and friendly and lots of useful information.

    I'm interested in herb gardening, cooking and crafts and vegetable/fruit growing (we have an allotment) although I must admit my husband does most of the digging!

    Looking forward to joining in the forums soon and learning new things.

    Madeleine

    Hi Madeleine, welcome to the Stew from north Texas.
    Yes please, keep us up on the latest going on at your allotment. What sort of crafts do you enjoy?

    I have plans for a lot more herbs next season for teas, home remedy use, etc.

    Thank you all for such a warm welcome, I'm looking forward to exploring the site more as and when time permits, looks like it might be addictive javascript:emoticon(':)');

    What crafts do I do? Well I love silk painting, knitting, crochet, a bit of sewing. I love to make things out of herbs and with essential oils. I've made room sprays, lavender bags and pillow, lavender wands, catnip bags. I'd like to learn more about making craft things with my herb plants.

    Our allotment has apple and pear trees, redcurrant, blackcurrant and raspberries, rhubarb and horseradish. We normally grow potatoes, leeks, kale, onions, garlic, various cabbage type of plants, beetroot, carrots so we've been busy harvesting this last month and making jams, jellies, soups!

    Hope to 'talk' more to some of you on the other forums.

    Hi

    Nice to meet you too. I have made raspberry mixed with redcurrants into a jelly which is tasty, but normally only make blackcurrant jam and some syrup. Can't see why you couldn't mix red and black though; if you try it let us know how it tastes/what the colour is like, better post it on a different forum though I think?

    Hello
    I'm new, too, and I am sure I'll benefit from the knowledge of all the memberss. I might even be able to add some advice for northern gardeners.
