    Hi, I'm new to GardenStew and somewhat new to internet groups and posting. I stumbled upon this site when googling information on how to plant bulbs and thought it would be a great place to get good gardening advice. I've been trying to step-up my gardening skills.
    I used to describe my gardening with "The only thing I can grow is mold and I'm trying to kill that!" But thankfully I've graduated from there to "That's pretty, lets dig a hole and plant it." I dream of having an "English" garden that will be enjoyed by my family and guests.
    By the way, I still haven't figured out what to do with my many hundreds of bulbs I bought that I didn't get in the ground before the snow came. I'm looking forward to learning from the many years of experience found here.
    What is a poll question :?:

    Hello Paintedtongue, from the cold, dark, windy and snowy Artic Norway. Welcome! I know you will like it here. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. :stew2:

    I honestly don't know alot about bulbs, except i think if you haven't planted already to store them in a cold or cool place.

    when i do plant i just find a place, clear the area, toss the bulbs, an where they land is where i dig a hole,, to me its a more natural looking view. and when i add different bulbs,, i do the same. :D

    Hi Paintedtongue, welcome to the Stew from north Texas. Yes, we really do like pictures but you don't have to wait until the garden is in bloom next year...I like pictures of snow too :-D

    A Poll question is one where you have members vote on something.

    Welcome Paintedtongue from cold, wintry Norway. If I'm late with my outdoor bulbs in fall, I plant them in big pots and put them outside, near the house wall.

    Thank you for all the warm welcomes! My bulbs are:
    120 Crocus assorted colors;
    60 apple blossom assorted (Triumph) Tulipa,
    120 pastel single Fresia, and
    120 muscari armeniacum.
    I bought them in bags at Sam's, I thought they were reasonably priced and beautiful. Can I plant these now in big pots and leave them outside all winter? By the number of bulbs I have I'm wondering if we should have kept the swimming pool :D I'd love to have them come up in the Spring rather than wait another year.

    I doubt that your Fresias are hardy, but the rest shouldn't be a problem. I like to plant tulips with crocus, since they like different depths. You are right about the swimming pool, that was a huge amount of bulbs for containers. Good luck.

    If I dont get bulbs in the ground in time I keep them in the fridge in one of the veggie bins and plant them in the spring as soon as the ground can be worked. The freesias arent hardy in Zone 5. Do you know your zone? Maybe plant them and keep them inside like a houseplant.
