Hobbies? Well, let's see...there's gardening. Then there's gardening. And there's also more gardening. No, really, that is pretty important to me. I live in the central city in an old neighborhood on a small lot. But I bought this particular house as much for the blank, flat, sunny yard as for the house itself. I live between two vacant houses and like the privacy bestowed. It is a shame to see such sturdy little houses go unused, so I would only a little disappointedly give up some privacy in order to have some nice neighbors. I take care of the yard of one of those houses, as the owners live far away. They let me plant a few things there in exchange for looking after their place. Uh, they get a very good deal!

When alone, I listen to Mexican and Notenos music, though I do not speak much Spanish or know more than just a few Mexicans. I also like Tish Hinojosa, not really Mexican or Nortenos, though often in Spanish.

I boat on the Mississippi some with my husband. We have a fishing boat, yet neither of us fishes much. I like it best when we are anchored near a bank or island and I can study the plants and birds from a few yards away. So for me, the river is another viewpoint on the things of the land. This past weekend the river was so calm it was like a mirrored lake. Two weeks ago, it was so ferocious I thought I was on the ocean in a storm. I needed several hours to regain my landlegs, believe it or not!

I will tell more over time as I become more comfortable here. Okie doke?

Frank, you live in Malmö? Years ago I had an online gardening acquaintence from Malmö. I have never met anyone from Sweden in real life. My world really is unfortunately small so the internet has really been wonderful for making connections and expanding the world.

[IMG] to the Stew, Joan. It's great to meet you.
    Your growing situation sounds great!!
I've been known to plant a few things slightly over the boundry
into my neighbor's property . . .[IMG] . . . always with permission, of course.
