Im in chicago and iv grown up with a family flower shop. I just so happen to always be really interested in inutrition and i love being outside. we had a smaller sized house, but a huge backyard with every type of garden. I loveed being out back while my mom watered. well now i work with her at our shop in Northbrook, and i think i have the best job in the world!! Although its only flower season for about 5 months, so im i do a lot of different things. Enough about me, anyone else from Illinois? I found this site looking to find out some things about HERBS, i love them, and rescently aquired Jasmine, which stopped blooming. Does anyone know how i can get them to flower. I'd like to make an essential oil from it. Any good ideas?

Hello Shellbell and a warm welcome to our forums from a very wet and windy Scotland.
I would love to work in a flower shop but doubt that I'd sell anything as I'd want to keep them all to myself!! ;)

Mmm, I love the smell of a flower shop! I think if you keep jasmine in a warm and humid environment it should bloom just fine, maybe just make sure it gets lots of light.
O, and welcome to the stew!

A warm welcome to the stew Shellbell. Have you ever heard the old saying 'Never say Never'. I've said that about herbs. I've had a herb garden only in the past three years, so I'm still learning about them too. I moved them to a whole new area last fall in hopes of making it bigger and adding more this year. You'll find alot of good info here and many friendly folks. Look around and make yourself at home.

Welcome ShellBell, Sounds like you have a great job. I'd love to have opportunity to get involved with a local florist/nursery shop but I'm still a newbe to this gardening thing (and the stew)so I think I need to broaden my horizons first. Lots of very knowledgeable people here on the stew. Enjoy!
