Just a quick hello as a new member. I'm taking a break from working outside clearing a garden bed, decided to make some coffee and join the GardenStew forum.

Looking forward to taking a closer look around!

    Thanks, guys!

Hmm. Pictures. Wish my garden was photo worthy.
Right now I'm feeling like everything needs moving to a better spot. Which is impossible, as there are no more spots left.

I've heard gardens like mine called a Plant Zoo. Mine is more like a Plant Pound! Nothing too interesting as far as cultivar goes, just a mass of the cast off and unwanted from other gardens! Nothing seems to fit. But I never give up. :)

    Well back to work! :)

Hi and welcome SE Texas. Don't be shy... we still want to see those photos. Not everyone's garden here looks like it's from a magazine. :stew2:

Hey, if they are plants with green leaves and at some time in their lives produce a bloom....then YEAH, we want photos. Being a cultivar or even knowing the cultivar name is not required in order to be oooooohed and awwwwwed over here.

Some of the best gardens are made from gifts from other gardeners....hopefully those other gardeners know you have some of their plants ;)

Hello from Scotland in the UK. I,too, would like to see photographs of anything and everything you grow - if it's green it's worthy of having its picture taken. ;)

And yet another warm welcome from central Texas! We have a tradition here in Texas--passalong plants. Those are the plants some friend, relative, or unsuspecting stranger ( ;) ) contributes to a garden.
We aren't highly critical of gardens/plants/arrangements here. We just love gardens, and love photos!

Yep. I don't have a membership but my sister does and the library has a set of passes that you can sign out for the day, so I do go. It's about two miles or so away. It is really a beautiful spot. I love the rose garden, but I will have to say that my favorite place is the fern greenhouse. It is built so that half of the greenhouse is sort of a few steps down into the ground, and it is just a beautiful thing, both inside and out.

I've attended a wedding on the grounds, too, and it is just a great place to hold an event.

Can't wait till the roses are in bloom there!

I also live near the Wyck House, which is the oldest documented rose garden in the country, I believe. Stunning when in bloom. Tons of old roses, and there are other gardens on the grounds as well.

I'm near the Awbury Arboretum, too, which has begun to have a resurgence in the past few years. Great things going on there, too.

Not to mention the stunning gardens I see just walking round the neighborhood. Lots of different sized properties, some huge and some small single and row houses, so so many with stunning gardens.

Today I am helping my dad plant a crepe myrtle I dug out of my yard that I grew from a whip from the arbor day society, as well as lots of tubers we lifted last year that need to go back. I still have to do my own dahlias, but got my cannas in last week.

I lift mine, but a few houses down, they never do and they survive just fine. Theirs is a foundation planting w/ morning sun, and mine are in the rear, yet sheltered between the house and a low wall. I always think I should test leaving them in, but never do, cause I'd be sad if they didn't make it.
