Hello! I am new to GardenStew and honestly to any online community. I love to garden! I have a large perennial garden and I have had vegetable gardens off and on over the years. In the past I have given up on my vegetable gardens because of weeds and the large amount of time I have spent removing them from the garden. I am hoping for some new ideas on how to deal with the weeds and get back to enjoying a vegetable garden.
How do you prevent weeds in your vegetable gardens?

Hello! We are on a small farm in Central Texas now, but we lived in upstate NY for 25 cold years.
Weeds? Well, there is deep mulch, or cardboard covered with mulch, or constant tilling that will suppress them. Post your question on the gardening forum and you'll get good answers--great gardeners here, friendly and helpful.

Hello and welcome from SE Texas. Can't wait to check out your perennial gardens... and veggies.

One good way to help with weed control is to use raised beds.

Welcome for another Texas person. It's sunny and nice here about 9 or 10 months out of the year. I garden all year around. Weeds! If I feel like it, I pull them or hoe them. Mostly I guess I let them grow. Weeds are wildflowers.

GG glad you found this wonderful community to become a part of. Once your plants are up and growing out of the ground you can use corn gluten to control the spread of weed seeds. Looking forward of seeing pic's of what you have been growing. :stew1:

Hi and welcome Greengirl, welcome from distant hot land. I am a veggie gardener. For weed control I make use of raised beds and thick mulch, sometimes I just make don't know pretending that the weeds were just not there!!! :)

    Thanks!

Thank you for my warm welcome. I like the suggestion of the raised beds. I have two raised beds that I have used for strawberries and raspberries for a number of years. I am hoping to put in two more raised beds this Spring. I really miss growing vegetables!
