Like many other posters, I happened on this site several times during Google searches for information on the unique problems of gardening in the desert. I'm not totally new to gardening but as I've demonstrated over and over again, I don't know it all. I probably never will. I live along the San Pedro river. We have cold winter nights, a short spring (if we get any at all) and then hellish summers from May through September. Vegetable gardening here is a challenge. It's been a long time since I've been able to get my hands and knees dirty. I'm looking forward to it. And, as my husband mentioned this morning, now that our boys are grown and gone, we'll get the first tomatoes and melon. We fenced out the javelina. I look forward to learning from all of you.

Hello! I was from Mayer, Az and have a son in Prescott Valley. Now, I'm from Texas. Gardening is very much a challenge in Arizona, but I think every region has it's problems and finding a solution is what it's all about. There are many people here willing to help and give advice. We're a friendly bunch and enjoy hearing from others and pictures and we're very nosy, too. dooley
Welcome Pricklypear from east Texas. I know you will like our great group of gardners. We are a lively bunch, so just jump in anytime and make yourself at home.

Hi from snowy northeast Wisconsin. I visited my folks many times down in Green Valley and love the state of AZ. It took me awhile, though, to appreciate the desert...but once you do, you're hooked!
