Hi all, I am creating a flower garden with my 3 year old daughter. While surfing the web, I came across some pictures posted by your members. So I thought I would join. I could use the help. My experience with plants is limited to what I helped my grandmother plant when I was a kid. I am learning that perhaps I should have paid more attention and that there are so many types of plants and I seem to love them all. I am most intrigued by the fairy gardens... I may have to give it a try. Anyways, looking forward to sharing the ups and downs of gardening with you all.

Hi there, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. For your daughter, I would get a package of Zinnia Seeds and let her have fun watching them come up. Unless you live in the cold north there is plenty of time for them to flower before winter arrives. Depending on your climate you should be able to take a dried bean from the pantry, put it in the ground and let her have the experience of growing something to eat. And don't forget to take photos of her (and your) plants so we can enjoy her fun too.
Welcome to GardenStew from West Lothian in Scotland. I think creating a flower garden with your daughter is a lovely thing to do. You can both learn together and have the pleasure of watching things grow.

Welcome from Texas. Gardening with children is so much fun. Give her easy to grow seeds. She might like a short row of carrots or a pumpkin for Halloween. Ask the questions you need to ask. We'll be happy to help. dooley

Hi and welcome to the Stew from Wadsworth, Ohio. I had my 15 yr old daughter help me with a (her first) flower bed this summer, also. She picked out all the flowers and we planted them. Added a ladder from the chicken coop for the mandevilla to climb up and some citronella candles on each step and she was quite pleased with the results and I was happy for her help. (Mostly just to get her away from the computer for a while)
