I learned about GardenStew while looking for information about hypertufa. Love growing my own plants from seed(DH built a small greenhouse for me). Mostly vegetables and annuals, but this year I am branching out a little and trying my hand at perennials. Have my eye on a piece of ground I would like to turn into a cottage garden. Big plans.
Hi karfar, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. Any photos of before the cottage garden, during it's development and of course after it is planted and filling in would be so much fun to look at..we love photos. Glad you have joined us.
Welcome to the friendliest gardening forum! Please ask any questions you have, show us photos, and let us know how your gardens and plants progress.
Welcome to GardenStew karfar from a very cold and snowy Scotland. :-D I look forward to getting to know you.
Hi Katfar, welcome to GardenStew from Chelmsford, MA. Perennials, cottage garden, yep, we do that, and a lot more. Looking forward to spring....is it springtime there? I have to dig through 10 inched of snow to find anything that resembles spring. On the other hand, lots of members have flowers. Hypertufa? An interesting and creative media to work with. Sounds like summer fun. You will enjoy yourself here. Welcome aboard. Jerry
Hi Katfar and a warm welcome to GardenStew. I'm glad that you found us! Please do share your gardening adventures with us this year
Welcome to the Stew from the coast of north-western Norway! I'm so glad you found us. Please, I'd also like some photos of your garden as work progresses.
Thank you all for your posts and warm welcomes. Supposed to be the first day of spring, but tomorrow temps supposed to be 27 during the day and 16 at night. Heater went out sometime during the night and woke up at 5 to greenhouse temp of 28. Rush around in dark to get heat back on. Crossing my fingers that my tender plants are not frozen. New cottage garden will be on sunny side of my "playhouse" that my husband built for me last year. On the shady side will be a shade garden of host as, coral bells, ferns, bleeding hearts, and astilbe. Plants so far for cottage garden include red and purple cone flowers, three different shades if peonies, delphiniums, rubekia, Shasta daisies, irises, and daylillies. What could I add to give some height? Thanks for any and all suggestions.
