    Hello Everyone,
I was wondering is someone could PLEASE tell me how to keep the darn rabbits out of my flower garden! These darn rabbits eat everything I plant. I ordered a bunch of flowers through the mail. I planted them this afternoon and when I went outside tonight there were the rabbits eating what I just planted! I HATE RABBITS! Thank you for any help.

I fought with rabbits for years Richie. The only thing that worked for me was getting a dog!

We had a lone rabbit around our neighborhood several years ago....I think a neighbor made rabbit stew for the family one night since I haven't seen it in a couple of years.

Anyway, I learned to always have chicken wire and bamboo sticks on hand to make fencing around the plants.

We have lots of rabbits. We fence some things and we have a dog that catches them if we let her. Mostly they haven't bothered the things I've planted. We are fencing my garden though. dooley

I have rabbits around... They don't bother anything in the gardens, that I've noticed. I let a big patch of clover grow and I'm very protective of it when mowing. I see them eating it. I don't know if that is why they don't bother my other stuff... Could be though.

My garden is the smorgasbord for rabbits every winter as I have a lot of their favorite shrubs planted in my yard. I've been lucky in summer, though, as there are so many more things for them to eat so they leave my flowers alone. I've had good luck using a product called Ropel (and I know there are other brands out there too), which is something you spray onto your plants...it tastes bad, isn't poisonous, and it works to keep them from chewing. You have to reapply it after heavy rains, but it's better than having to cage up your flower beds.

I have heard that putting fresh dog hair around plants is suppose to detour the rabbits away.

I catch them in humane trap and relocate them...I was using liquid fence and then they got used to it and it didn't bother them anymore...I quit using it but will try it again once they start visiting more...it smells like rotten eggs until it is dried...

Last year we were worried that the large rabbit population would eat our pumpkin flowers, so we read up on the problem and found that marigolds are supposed to keep them away. We got some and it seemed to work, though we also had a lot of clover around. Also, growing chives is supposed to be a deterrent.
