Help identifying a plant. "Seeds" that fall from t So, we have a web site that's local where you can buy things other people are selling. I purchased 2 aloe vera plants from a lady from the site, and went to pick them up today. She also gave me this plant. She said she didn't know what it was, and someone had given her one a while ago. There's little "seeds" that fall off the edges of the leaves, and where ever they fall, the sprout. She's had them fall in the cracks of her patio and sprout. These ones had fallen in the pot with an aloe vera plant and sprouted. She said it gets flowers on it. Yes, I know there's an aloe vera in that pot... I ended up with 4 Aloe Veras and at least 2 sprouts of this plant. Any help identifying it would be much appreciated. Your plant could be a young Mexican Hat plant. Take a look at this picture and see what you think. Information taken from Wikipedia: "Kalanchoe daigremontiana syn. Bryophyllum daigremontianum also called Devil's Backbone, Alligator Plant, Mexican Hat Plant or Mother of Thousands is a succulent plant native to Madagascar. This plant is distinguished by its ability to propagate via vegetative propagation. All parts of the plant are poisonous, which can even be fatal if ingested by infants or small pets."
I used to have one of those....poor thing shrivelled during a hot day in the conservatory. Mother of thousands I think I called it. Cute thing.
I do believe that's what it is. I looked at some other pictures online, and it's got the little seed pods on the leaves like that. Thank you so much for your help! I'm anxious for it to grow and bloom!
We call them Mother of Millions. Where ever they drop a little seed... another one springs up. So be careful where you keep it!
I have called it alligator plant, it eats up and soil that it lands on. That pic of the very large one is super cool. Mine never get that big. I guess you have to remove all the babies that fall in the pot
