Hi! I stumbled on this site by accident-I am looking for someone who can tell me if the foot long growth coming from the middle of the hen (as in chicks and hens) contains seeds and what to do with them. Thanks

The stalk that is forming will have blooms on the end.
They produce a bloom and then the "hen" that blooms will die. Hopefully you have some "chicks" surrounding it to replace it.

The seeds that form may not produce identical plants as the parent if there are other varieties close by.

I have not had much luck with saving the seeds. My plants increase from the chicks.

Growing up, we always called the one that bloomed, the rooster.

    Yes, it will die.
