Help to tidy up my room

Well, first let me say that you are an amateur when it comes to having a "room that no should have to see" My husband's work room and my youngest daughter's bedroom make yours look 'spic and span'.
They don't listen to what I have to say but hopefully you will find something useful in these suggestions.

The following suggestions come from my Mother side, so please remember that you asked :-D

First go thru the room and take out the trash. Water bottles on the desk, empty tissue box on the floor, plastic bag on the floor. And put clothes and accessories like the belt and hat on the bed, where they belong and that really isn't on the bed.

Go thru all the drawers, if you really need to keep an item fine, but if it is something that you use once in a while then maybe a storage box on the shelf in your closet is the place for it. If you don't really need an item, then either trash it or give it away.

Isn't there a supply drawer where you can put that roll of packing tape?

The boxes stacked in the corner...if you really must keep them, break them down to flatten them, they will take up less room that way and can be retaped if/when they are needed. If there is room under the bed, store them there.

Some shelves on the wall will hold the Rubix Cube, CD's and DVD's and the Boom Box. The model ship would look really good on a shelf, maybe a small one above the window. The musical instruments will benefit from being on a shelf instead of standing on the floor where they could get knocked around.

How about some shorter shelves to the right of the window on the blue wall, to hold spiral notebooks, books and papers that are on the dresser.
You might even replace the little knick-knack shelf with the things hanging from it with a larger shelf that will be more useful.
A bulletin board on the white wall beside the other window would help you keep track of papers/notes that you need immediate access to.

If that is a CD holder to the left of your monitor and a stack of CD's to the right of the monitor, can they be combined? Or how about finding a CD holder that hangs on the wall?

You don't need another desk to free up some space. You need less stuff just sitting around taking up the space. Good luck, you can do it and feel so much better for having done it.

 

Hi Crabnife, I can sympathise with you as although as stuff just seems to build up quite quickly. Toni has mentioned some really great ideas. I have one suggestion that may help: as you probably spend a lot of time sitting at your desk make an extra effort to tidy that and keep it that way. I say this because even if the rest of your room is untidy a clean and organised desk can give the illusion of tidiness and help you concentrate more while working there.

P.S if you manage to free up some space might I suggest a houseplant or two? Everyone should have a leafy friend.
