We have Boysenberry and Blackberry Vines that are starting to have Berries right now, a few every day. My question is : do we cut the canes that had fruit on them this spring off or will they bear fruit again next year. New Canes are growing now also and are getting very long.we do cut the thorny vines off since we planted thornless variety.
I have never grown boysenberry bushes, but I do have some experience with blackberries. You can take a look at this internet page for a basic discussion on pruning them. http://www.volkstuindersvereniginghoorn ... age32.html Good luck with your bushes.
I planted thornless black berries last year. They had a few berries then. I do not prune mine at all now since they are young. Maybe when they get older I will a bit. This year they are loaded with berries. Every inch of cane has berries.
