Hi all, I'm having problems trying to vision how to place furnitures for an odd shaped apartment that I'm interested to buy. A similar apartment plan is shown below. As can be seen, the bedrooms and living room are not square or rectangle. Placing beds and tables would be tricky, and could result in a loss of space. Any advice on how best to furnish the apartment would be really appreciated. Thank you.
hi Xya, well ,i think you can make the most out of these walls.. first placing the living room furniture against the aligned wall would be nice and stylish ans specious. second, you can you the other small aligned walls to involve them in your home decor... for example, you can paint those walls in different colors,or use the same colors but with different style of painting like sponging. http://www.bhg.com/decorating/paint/dec ... primer/,or faux http://www.bhg.com/decorating/paint/dec ... -painting/ (this site shows a variety of painting techniques. or even make this wall stone(on a budget),if you cant afford making the wall real stone or brick, there are some wall paper that looks exactly like stone.if this is not what you want or if you don't like like wall paper, than the painting techniques and stencils would help you
My suggestions would be to place the seating for the living room along the wall with the door. You can have a dining room or kitchen table to the left of the door near the windows. This would create an open spaced living plan that is very inviting. In bed 1, I'm not sure of the dimensions but if your bed can fit width wise under the small wall with 2 windows you would best utilize the space.
I agree with Nana that you should put furnitures along the aligned wall. If not, you can forego on traditional pieces of furniture like a sofa, and instead get those bean bags or circular sofas, this way you can stay away from edges. This would of course, depend on your personality. If you feel icky about this, you can perhaps put it divisions at the right places so that you'd have a square-ish living area and still use the extra space for other things, like a storage area or a hanging bookshelf.
