No, I am not the gardener. Laura is and today is a perfect day for what she wants to accomplish. The sun shines brightly and there is no wind today. It has not been this warm for months. Laura is "housekeeping" the flower beds. She rakes out and pulls all the old dry vines and dead plants. Some is for compost, some for the black bags in the dumpster. She has stripped the fence line of old morning glory vines and harvested more seeds. Chance and I sit on a bench below the walnut tree and watch the birds fly from the scrub oak to the shed roof to the garden fence to the walnut tree and back again. They chatter like school children out for recess. They praise the warm golden sun. It is a dream day for a winter time gardener. It is a blessing of sun. dr
It sound so wonderful. The sun is out here also but the wind is blowing and it is not warm so I'm keeping my head in today.Glad you and Dooley are enjoying it.
Oh how I wish you could parcel some of that sun up and send it over here to Scotland!! Enjoy and I hope you have another great day tomorrow. :-D
I have accomplished what I wanted to do today. But, I have a huge pile of debris that needs cleaned up. Bag or compost. Before I put anything else in the compost I need to turn, water, etc. Maybe I will just start a new compost and put the old compost into the garden and dig it in to finish. First, I have to rake the garden area and bag up the old squash plants. I don't put those on the compost. Such a lot to be done and I'm afraid the warm days are disappearing faster than I am working. Only 40's and rain on Friday, which is my day off. But, at least the iris have room to breathe. Dooley
It is to cold and windy to work outside here. My barrels need cleaned out and the plants seeded when it is a little warmer. Tomorrow or the next day it is to be 48 so maybe then. Wannabe
Cooler here today in the 30's but we enjoyed some sunshine. Glad you had enough to be out and work in your garden.
It is either too cold or too wet or both here. I am itching to get into my beds and do the same Dooley. The irises and daylilies are popping up and need breathing room. I also need to get my glads planted.
