Well I don't like Glasgow any better than I did the last time I was there as it's waaaayy too busy for my liking but there again I don't enjoy shopping that much anyway as a rule, unless, of course, it's plant shopping. However, the rain held off and I did manage to pick up a few bargains. Here's the kitchen towel holder I got: and then I spotted this one for the bathroom so got it too: Then I managed to find a nicely shaped glass bowl and just the right mix of pot pourri (lavender scented) to go on my coffee table. It even matches with the runner I have!! :-D We visited one of the shops near the market as I wanted some King sized Egyptian cotton, fitted sheets and pillow cases. The shops around here charge £19.99 just for one sheet so I was really chuffed to pay that amount for two fitted sheets + two pillow cases. I picked up 5 tea towels for just £4 at the same shop - another bargain compared to our shops. Lastly Ian wanted some chocolate caramel wafer biscuits to have with his cuppas and as the shop was closing early he got 4 bagsful for only £2!! Al in all a successful day except that I never did get that 10 cup (5pint) teapot. I can order one on the net though for a good price so that's OK.
I feel the same way when I go into the big city Eileen. I want to shop for things I can't find in my town but all the noise/excitement/business gets me in a tither! Then I can't wait to get done my shopping and get HOME! Too bad you forgot to get a new teapot. Another excuse to go shopping!
I didn't buy anything exciting at all Netty as I was only shopping for stuff we needed - well except for the bowl. Just couldn't find the ten cup teapot anywhere and I got fed up looking. When we have visitors the diddly little teapots are no use to us whatsoever. I really do hate shopping and markets are so crowded and all the different smells get to me after a while.
Glad you at least found the towel holder Eileen. The potpourri is a really pretty color, I love the scent of Lavender. I always find pretty colors and scents but never have any good luck with them keeping a room scented. I use candles instead. Living inside the big city I am so used to the crowds, noises and smells that I really don't notice them until after we spend the day out at my Mom's. I do try to stay home as much as possible to avoid them all.
Lovely flower arrangement! I love tea, but must stick with smaller pots- I take a mild diuretic for my blood pressure, so much tea and I'm in the loo all day! Costco had a vendor in this weekend with Polish pottery, he had a teapot that was at least as big as 10 cups, and really beautiful! Thanks for the link Mary but the teapot I think I'll go for is a plain white pottery one made by Legend Cookshops. It's the same as the one I have at the moment. How I wish I hadn't broken the lid though as the teapot itself is still in tact. From now on I'll check out the net first because, as you say, it's so much easier than trudging round markets and shops.
Yes, I hate to go to the Big City too. I usually have a list as long as your arm to boot. I usually find some little thing and get it just for fun like you did. Lavender smells heavenly. King size sheets are very expensive. I'm looking for some on sale but isn't a king-sized bed just GRAND? 8)
Oh yes Bethie I wouldn't go back to an ordinary double sized bed now!! I got a little surprise when I opened up the pack of pillow slips - there were four in the pack instead of just two :-D so they were an even bigger bargain!!! :-D Still doesn't make me want to go shopping again though.
