My lawn mowing buddy is back. Every year for the past 5 or 6 years I have had an Eastern Flycatcher help me mow the yard. He flies around and as the tractor/mower scares up flying bucgs, he swoops in and grabs them. He sets on the lower limbs and anything low to the ground. Today was the first I had seen him this year. He ought to have a full belly tonight!
I'm sure your Eastern Flycatcher will do a much more efficient job of killing those bugs than any chemicals will CK.
We were out cutting back our Mock Orange hedge this morning, all 200 ft of it and he was out there grabbing bugs as they flew out. One moth was trying his darndest to get away. The bird did loops and barrel rolls and every thing else he could to get that moth. All about 2 ft off the ground. It was so comical I laughed out loud!
It sounds like a very good friend to have! We've got the magpies following our mower, but they don't do acrobatics like your friend does. A film piece would be nice.
I only see this stuff when I am outside and the camera is in the house! If I have the camera with me, it don't happen!
