This is my first year growing a Passion Flower vine. And this is my first bloom. I didn't get to witness it opening like FlowerFreak did... maybe next time!

It's a wonder of nature, isn't it, Cheryl.
How tall does your vine grow?

Oh, it's very beautiful. I love how purple it is. Do you know what species it is? I bet you were so excited to see your first bloom as I was to see mine. I keep trying to catch another one opening, but haven't yet. I have got close though. Like the other day I saw one that was looking ready to open. I came back about two hours later and it was...so close. Maybe I'm getting greedy. :p The Passion Flowers are probably my favorite flowers.

I just planted it this year and it's on a small trellis right now... so it's only about 3 foot tall. I got the cutting from a neighbor, and her's grows all over her carport. So they get pretty tall.
I've got a lamp post at the family home that I plan on transferring this plant to next spring so it can grow and grow. Can't wait to see alot of these blooms all together.

FlowerFreak... I don't know the species. I guess I should do a little research on this plant. Funny story... my brother was over yesterday. I made him come look at the flower. He said "What the heck kinda flower is that???!!!!"
    :D
I told him about how it's also called Maypop and why. He just shook his head and walked away.

Haha :D that's too funny. I guess he just didn't understand why the flower is so cool. Seeing lots of those blooms together would be great and I would love to see a picture of that. Mine only blooms about one or two at a time in order up the vine. I do have another vine next to it that is getting ready to bloom so hopefully I'll have more blooms at once. I also transplanted one next to the mailbox to try to get it to climb all over it.

It is my second year growing it, but last year it came up late and didn't have time to bloom or get very large. This year it came up very early and now it's probably about 5 maybe 6 feet tall so far.

I lost my passion flower over the winter but I really have to have another one. I love the meny layered flowers they produce as they are always a talking point when people come to visit and see them.

They're lovely blooms. We have to keep them as house plants and since I really like passion flowers I won't let them suffer a premature end in my home. I can never keep houseplants alive for long.
