Hi. Presently we live both in Alaska and Virginia, but will shortly be moving to western Oregon...specifically the Eugene area. We are also into hothouse growing of veggies and starting bulbs, etc. Anybody able to offer some advice on the differences between growing in Alaska and western Oregon? We of course knok about Oregon's longer growing season and their higher daily mean temperature. But what about soil salinity...stuff like that? Anybody have any experience growing in both locales, that would be able to share some ideas? We look forward to learning a lot on this forum. Thanks. Bye 4 now.
Hi there Alaskan Rover - great to have you here at GardenStew with us. :-D Welcome from West Lothian in Scotland.
Hello from the Puget Sound Region of Washington State. Eugene is a pretty area. Much warmer than here in the summer. You'll have to post some pics of your new digs. Happy gardening
Hi there neighbor! I'm in Southern Oregon, Klamath Falls to be exact. I think you'll love gardening in Eugene! That Wilammette Valley is a gardener's dream! :-D
