Hey my fellow planters! I'm a recently converted planter, just entering the world of plants. I recently moved in my first home with my hubby and 3 kitties and we have 150ft long lawn to use as our blank canvas for planting/landscaping. So far I'm sticking to perennials since they're more care-free. Any hardy plants or tips for south dakota weather I'm all ears.
    See ya on the forums!

Thank you for the warm welcomes!

Netty I used to live in Ontario(was born there actually) but I lived more northern, close to the Manitoba border.

Eileen you don't wanna ask me for kitty pics as I have tons! I guess if i were to post any, I should do it in the pet section and not here. :p What pets do you have? Besides my 3 "furry boys" and I also own and breed freshwater fish.

A warm welcome to GardenStew Laura. A blank canvas you say? I can hear the mumbles of jealousy already :) Let us know how it goes for you.

Wow some more great replies! You sure are a friendly bunch! Yeah the lawn is pretty bare in terms of landscaping. The past owners were slobs so I've been currently trying to de-weed the heck out of it and plant grass seed in the bald spots.

Laura, those bald spots are great for flowers. Flowers will grow and give you much joy, grass on the other hand will grow and cost you much time and money. :-D

I just think planting flowers in various spots in the middle of the lawn would look funny and be tricky to mow around. :S I'm trying to keep all ym plants in groups so they look organized. :)
