We get the news here and have seen news pieces about serious flooding there. Are any of you in danger? We hope not.
Bless you for caring! We are fine--just got very beneficial rain in the amount of 3" over just under three days. Our rain soaked in, and now we are having sprinkles, with more light rain predicted for the next three to four days. Mart is closer to the Dallas area and may have had heavier rain. I hope she checks in and says she and those around her are fine.
Has anyone heard from Mart? I hope and pray all is ok there. I understand 10 inches of rain fell overnight in the Dallas area. Hope we hear something soon.
We got about 4 inches which was badly needed ! All soaked in and not a drop of standing water here ! Dallas is all concrete, water can't soak in anywhere so it floods !
Mart, so very happy to hear you got beneficial rain but no flooding! I was getting worried and about to send you a private message to ask how you were, and then saw your post. Hallelujah! Mart is okay!
Well thank heavens for that Mart, we really didn't want you to get washed away. Concrete is horrible stuff. Sounds like your patch will soon be nice and green again.
It is starting to green up in the pasture ! Horses were wondering if I put them on a diet ! Yes we needed rain badly ! Besides if it floods here,, I can swim !
mart usually I need to cut more grass hay to store for winters. In summer there is too much grass hay and need to fence out the horses or they eat too much and can founder. This weather change has effected the norm and we need to store hay for summers too because the pastures can just dry up and turn to dust. That was in 2021 the hottest summer on record.
We're right up on top of the Downs in central East Kent here. The rain always seems to skirt around following the coastline. It is still bone dry, and it would have to be some deluge akin to the Great Flood for us to have to resort to swimming or making a raft. We should have called the place Ararat
Pacnorwest, this is the first time we've seen hay being shipped in summer. Trucks hauling trailers with three, five, even more big round bales go by. Ranchers are thinning their herds because they can't feed and water the cattle properly. If there isn't a decent hay cutting this fall, the herds will be thinned even more. Seeing fine breeding heifers go to the auction barn is so sad.
