Have just found this website and forum and thought I would join. I have an allotment in East London U.K. of which this is my second year. try to get there as much as I can, but sometimes doesn't always happen, still I manage to grow potatoes, broad beans, runner beans, french dwarf beans, onions and shallots, radish. This year I have got potatoes, broad beans, dwarf tomatoes, onions and shallots (yellow & red). Will also manage to try and grow radish, carrots, runner beans, climbing french beans, cabbage & cuecumber plus what ever else I can do. At the moment I have a problem with couch grass and bindweed which hopefully next week-end I will try something called Root Out on it and then cover over with tarpaulin. If any one else in the U.K. has a quicker or more effective remedy then please let me know.
Hi rf, welcome to the Stew from north Texas. Glad to have you join us. We would love to see pictures of your allotment and vegies. Another member, EJ, is in Essex and also has an allotment, she grows some wonderful vegies on hers.

Hello rf, so nice to meet you. It sounds like you've got some wonderful veg growing! Looking forward to seeing pictures.
Hello rf! Re-your problem with bindweed - we have the same problem in the garden and I've been keeping a lid on things by spraying with a glyphosate weed killer and by tolerating it in one part of the garden. I like to think that I am training the weed to understand that there is no point throwing up shoots in any other part of the garden other than the one place I don't mind it! I know it's a horribly invasive weed, but I do like the blooms, so when it twines it's way through the hedge I don't mind, since I get lots of whte blooms through the summer. The hedge is very well established and doesn't get strangled the way other plants can. BEst of luck with your plan - let us know how that works out.
