Netty, Donna, Eileen, Henry, Vitrsna, 2ofus, KK Ng, Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! It's so interesting to see people from all over the world united by the same interest! I am a beginner urban gardener growing tomatoes, herbs and spinach on my garden. Kind of figuring out things as I go along. What about you guys?
Hi Andres, Urban gardener...super! Every nook and cranny should be filled with something other than lawn (sorry lawn lovers, you understand this is only IMHO). Have you heard of gorilla gardeners? They are urbanites who find urban spaces not being utilized and grow things there. They are pretty radical. Herbs are great to grow in small spaces because you can get a lot of yield out of little space. The tomatoes you can grow up, but there are better people to talk to here about that than me. I have a garden for butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds in a small space. I grow exclusively nectar-rich plants and also host plants for butterflies with one exception. I am starting chives on the patio because fresh chives are hard to find around here. I am in a tropical climate where the average annual temperature is 78 degrees F (about 25 C), if we want to grow tomatoes here we have to grow them in the shade. What kind of climate are you in...what are your summers and winters like and how long is your growing season?
Hello Andres, welcome to this group. The more you interact, the more you will learn. So do participate more and you will see what I mean in six months. 'Patience and perseverance' is the key. You will certainly enjoy. We learn as we move along.
