    Hello-
I'm back after a quite a scare with Gavin, the doctors thought he had lymphoma. But it turns out that he had cat scratch fever. It took them six months to figure this out. He is much better now. Mom's not, a broken wrist, a torn rotator cup and muscle damage thanks to all of our lovely ice and snow in NY.

How is everyone else doing? I have missed my daily chats here on the stew, I can't wait to catch up with everyone.

Who has started planting, started germinating? I can't wait to hear from everyone.

Hi NYG, glad to see you back with us and to hear that your son is recovering nicely. Too bad about the fall or falls you have had tho, maybe you should stay indoors until spring has officially arrived and the snow/ice is gone.

I haven't started seeds or spring planting yet. I probably could with no problem, we have had a very warm winter since January for the most part. But I think I will wait until mid-March just in case old Mother Nature decides to grant my yearly winter wish for snow.

    Welcome back newyorkgardener
I wondered where you had gotten to!
That must have been a terrifying 6 months you had with Gavin and I'm glad to hear he's better. Hope your recovery is quick.
Winter here has been long and cold too and I can't wait until spring. Today I planted a few things...it's a little early, but I couldn't help myself. :)

So happy to have you back with us again newyorkgardener and really pleased to hear that it wasn't lymphoma that Gavin was suffering from. My you have been through so much since we last heard from you!! I hope that wrist heals well and that the damage done doesn't take too long to sort itself out.

I can't even contemplate sowing anything at the moment as we have snow, gale force winds and terrible frosts here in Scotland. :( Spring isn't too far away though so here's hoping I'll have something to tell you about soon.

    WELCOME BACK. :-D

    Welcome back Newyorkgardener;
Sorry for all your troubles and hope all heal well. I have started a few veg and flower seeds in a tray for the grow lights. Hope it's not too early.
By the way I grew up in Johnson City, near Binghamton. Our football team probably played yours in High School. Good to have you back.

Good to have you back NYG. Sounds like you have had more than your fair share of troubles. I'm so glad Gavin is doing better. And you...you better stay in where it is warm and just keep your feet up and peruse your seed catalogs! :p

Hello there, so good to see you again. I was wondering what had happened, and I'm so glad your Gavin is better. Pity about your mother, though.

Here on the coast of Norway the winter has been cold but very short of snow. We've got snowdrops and hellebores blooming, but as we speak the snow is falling, so I guess we'll soon have flat hellebores. :D

No sowing yet for me. I prefer to sow directly outside.

Thank you everyone for your concern. I haven't even started thinking about starting any growing yet here either. Not with the temp. being in the teens. It's the time of year when all of the seed catalogs are coming in and I'm just looking and dreaming of warm weather again. :)

Hiyah, NYG----so glad to see you back. I'm really sorry to hear about your misfortune with your child and your own body. That ice is tretcherous. You must have takes quite a tumble. It sounds like a football injury.

I haven't started planting yet but I know that a couple of folks have. I'm still harvesting. I shall have some Purple Sprouting Broccoli soon, I hope--once the freezing stops.

    Welcome back. :smt039
