Hi there! My name is Vicky. I live in Eastern North Carolina.I haven't done much with my yard while I have lived in the house we are in, but we will be moving next year so I want to improve curb appeal and also I don't know how much I will get to do where we move next. I've tried doing some small flower beds and a veggie garden before, but was never very good with upkeep. Also never mulched my flower bed so my plants dried out since my home faces almost due east so it gets long hours of direct sunlight. Hopefully with not working now I will have the time and energy to devote to my garden.

Hi Vickyc and welcome. Glad to have you with us. Feel free to ask anything about your curb appeal. My advice first off is keep it simple and inexpensive though. the next home owner may not want what you like and tears it right out. And mulch, mulch, mulch.
Hi there Vicky and a warm welcome from a rather chilly Scotland in the UK. :-D Carolyn is right keep the planting simple and inexpensive and you won't go far wrong. Mulching is a great way to keep plants happy as well as looking good and suppressing weeds so a thick layer would be ideal on all counts.
