Hello. My name is Anne and I have just joined GARDENSTEW as now that I have retired gardening is one of my favourite passtimes (weather permitting). This year has been very bad weatherwise as we've had so much rain and certainly not a lot of sun so the garden- and me - have got rather bogged down. It's a good job my husband Bill and I had a wonderful holiday in Australia at the begining of the year as we certainly soaked up a good amount of the sun's rays there. We stayed in Sydney (well Manly to be correct), Melbourne and Hobart and had the most fantastic holiday, the memories of which have kept me going all year! Lytham is a pleasant little place situated on the estuary opf the River Ribble - along the coast from Blackpool which I'm sure a lot of you will have heard of. It has many tree lined roads, hence the expression 'leafy Lytham' and there is a small public wood 100 yards from our house which is very convenient for walking our two border collie dogs. I still, after almost a lifetime, tend to yearn for the hills of Scotland where I was born, as Lytham is very, very flat but I can indulge my passion for hills when we visit our son and his wife who now live in Ayrshire, Scotland. Our daughter Caroline is a lot nearer as she lives in Blackpool with her husband. Following in my Mum and Dad's footsteps I have been involved with the local operatic society for almost 50 years and am now chairman, which as you can guess takes up a lot of my time, but I love it and I like to keep busy. I look forward to getting involved with GARDENSTEW and hearing news from all over the world. Take care Anne (annie29)

Welcome to GardenStew Anne. :-D It's so nice that you've become a member here and that you are Playtimes mum. You must tell us all about Caroline and maybe post some embarrassing photographs of when she was a baby!! I'm from Scotland and live in a cottage in Livingston Village, West Lothian. I know I would miss our hills too if we were to move away. We can see the Pentlands from our back door and have taken many walks there. I look forward to getting to know you.
