Hello! I'm living in Mid-Michigan, and am looking forward to my first winter in my house. All summer my husband and I have been clearing trees to make a spot for our garden for next year. Every garden I've ever tried to have wasn't all that great, so I'm looking forward to listening and learning here!
Hi and welcome to the Stew. Glad to have you here. Ask all you want. Someone is sure to have an answer. Don't forget to post pictures of your garden and pets, hobbies, husband and you, family etc. We love to see them all.
Hi Frogdoc, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. Yes, photos please...we love to see the before, during and completion photos of gardening projects and gardens being created so get that camera out there!! We have several Michigan members who will be happy to give you tips and suggestions about veggie gardening in your climate.
Welcome to our forums Frogdoc from a rather wet and chilly Scotland. I look forward to getting to know you. :-D
Hello Frogdoc and a warm welcome to GardenStew. You will find that members here are some of the friendliest you will find! Jump right in and share what you can
frog and doc and Biologist....wow sounds very interesting. Tell is more........ I have kept darts and dumpys and all the aquatics. What are you into? Barb in Pa.
What a lovely welcome, thank you! I don't have many photos to share, as our garden-to-be is a lumpy mess of roots and sand. We've a dozen or so chickens that we are really enjoying, and a duck that is in the process of incubating a bunch of chicken eggs (should be interesting when they hatch!). I am an amphibian biologist, and did my graduate work studying the effects of chemicals on frog populations. Mostly native North American species. I was blessed enough last year to land a job for a chemical company, working in product safety (making sure their chemicals are safe for the environment) and moved back to Michigan where I grew up. I've got two kids (5 and 6) and a chicken-herding cat named Charley. Good to know there are some northerers here. Does anyone cold frame? It's something I'm interested in.
Hello from Illinois. I've not been to your part of Michigan but have been to the Upper Peninsula a few times. Welcome to the Stew. wannabe
Hi Frogdoc---Welcome to the Stew! Hope you enjoy it here. My family have always been frog people. Where we live now, we have at least 5 different kinds of frogs hopping about our place at different times of the growing season. Oh, and we have toads too. Do you consider them frogs?
Hi Frogdoc, welcome to GardenStew. You have joined the friendliest garden group on the internet. Cold frames? Yep, we do that. Posts that come to mind: http://www.gardenstew.com/about23339.html http://www.gardenstew.com/about23210.html If you have questions, ask away. Jerry
