This plant starting blooming in the last couple of days beneath a bush near my driveway. I rent a townhome and have lived here for a year, but did not see this plant last year. I have reserached for awhile now to try to identify the plant, but have not succeeded. The flower looks like a ladyslipper, but the leaves and stem are not the same. Anyone have any idea?

Hello, and welcome to the forums from mid-Norway! I think your plant is an Antirrhimum majus, is it Snapdragon in English? They're annuals here, lovely plants.

Hi and welcome to GardenStew from north Texas.

The bloom does look like a Antirrhinum majus (Snapdragon)

The color is like one of the Solstice Orange Tricolor Snapdragon. The Solstice series produce larger blooms, normally the blooms are on a tall spire but if the plant is not getting enough sun they do tend to lay down instead.

Welcome from NC. Those sure are pretty small snapdragon blooms.

Thanks everyone! That is definitely a snapdragon, so thank you for the suggestion! I hadn't even considered an annual, since I hadn't planted anything in the 12 months that I've lived at my townhouse. It must have re-seeded itself--I really think it's a beautiful plant!
