Hi Sapphire, welcome to the stew from north Texas.
You will find lots of good info in our forums and when you have questions be sure to ask.

Do you have any hobbies, pets, kiddos?
A new garden....oh boy, those are wonderful times. Do you plan on growing vegies, flowers, herbs or a combo of all three?
Be sure to take lots of pictures of your gardening progress, we love to watch first time gardens grow.

Hey! Yes, there is plenty going on here in Oklahoma! I am married and have 2 beautiful girls I am homeschooling (ages 6 and 2) and my husband is self-employed (has been for 12 years) and we have decided that a fruit/veggie/flower garden would be a fun school/family project to tackle this year! I have ordered my seeds from Gurney's and am awaiting their arrival. Here's what I ordered:

Corn, sunflowers, berry bushes, strawberries, cukes, watermelon, cantaloupe, peas, beans, parsley, carrots, tomatoes, garlic, green onions, and spaghetti and yellow squash.

Our flower mixture contains: Azaelas, Asclepias, Bee Balm (red shades) & Anytime Stocks.

Thanks so much for all your encouragement!
    Amanda

P.S. One of my biggest hobbies is baking!! We are a gluten-free family (due to us all be allergic) and I love to try new baking recipes! If there are any other Gluten-Free families out there..let me know some of your faves! Maybe we can share some great recipes as well :)

:D Thanks! I am pretty excited about the new garden myself!

Once the ground dries up a little, I'll break ground and get started. My hubby owns a lawn service, so he has saved up lots of his grass clippings from last summer, so now we have some great compost to start from.

He's pretty good with planting and knowing what goes where and how much room it all needs, so thats why I joined here so I could actually know what he's talking about when he explains somehting (and maybe even give a couple of pointers..??) and not seem like such a dingbat...hehe.
