Hi, I live in rural Southeast Illinois, close to New Harmony, Indiana. I'm especially interested in trees, fragrant roses, and bamboo. I also like straw bale gardening, but need to find a farmer who will deliver more straw bales to me.
Hi leafylady, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. We would love to see photos of your gardening and the straw bale gardening. That subject has come up here in the past but I don't think we have ever had a member who actually gardened that way.
So glad you've joined us here at GardenStew Leafylady. A warm welcome to our forums from West Lothian in Scotland.
oops- had to edit because my first link went the wrong way. I did a very small basic straw bale garden. It used a lot of water until it broke down a bit, but it performed quite well. going to search out my straw bale photos the right way now on flickr.
I put all of the straw bale garden photos in a set http://www.flickr.com/photos/knitsteel/ ... 972821579/ like I said- small, but a nice little kitchen garden. This is a fanpage http://www.facebook.com/pages/Straw-Bal ... 3169423324 that I follow on facebook- a guy that specializes in straw bale gardening. The page owner doesn't post a whole lot, but fans seem to post plenty of photos of their own straw bale gardens. (Sorry, can't get the full url to be a hotlink. You'll have to cut and paste.) Here are my general yard and garden photos- http://www.flickr.com/photos/knitsteel/ ... 844972719/ They are more macro shots of flowers than of the overall garden spots themselves.
Welcome to the Stew, leaflady, from the Norwegian north-west coast. Thanks for sharing the link to your photos. I like the look of your straw bale garden. If I had straw bales near by I would certainly give it a go.
Thanks everyone. I like that there are members from all over the world on this forum. I can tell that I will be learning a lot.
