Hi Ya'll I'm about 30 miles North of Richmond, Va. I love my vegetable garden and flowers. I think I would wither and die if I couldn't get out and work the garden. Due to lack of rain nothing did to well this year so I have tilled it up and have a nice cover crop of crimson clover. Usually I try to grow enough to can and get me through the winter. That's my goal anyway. So happy I found Garden Stew! Hoping it will get me through the winter. Great name by-the-way!
Hi there Sassafras!! A warm welcome to our forums from West Lothian in Scotland. I look forward to getting to know you.
Hello Sassafras, and welcome! You have found the most friendly gardening forum on the 'net. In addition to lots of nice folks, the webmaster has made it easy to post photos (yes, that is a strong hint!). We're on a small farm in Texas, so we know what you mean about lack of rainfall. We harvest rainwater, which helps get us through the dry spells. Right now we are planting our fall vegetable garden and cleaning up the asparagus bed and herb gardens. No cover crops for us--not enough time between crops for them to do much good.

Welcome to the best Stew on the net from the chilly coast of mid-Norway. Since we've had a very wet and cold summer we haven't done too well with growing things either.
