I have only lived here for about 2 years. I am originally from south Texas. I spent about the last 10 years in Kentucky though. I really miss the beach, but I do not miss the hot weather in Texas. I live in an apartment with my son, his wife and my grand baby. So I am learning how to be a patio gardener. This is my first time to ever grow herbs and I am really enjoying it. I also currently have some patio tomatoes and banana peppers.
Hello Tigercat and welcome to GardenStew from West Lothian in Scotland. I look forward to getting to know you. :-D
Hey thanks Eileen. I am looking forward to making new friends here. I think I will really like this site. Barbara
Hi Barbara, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. Yeah, you wouldn't have like summer down here this year.....neither did I. We would enjoy seeing some pictures of your patio garden anytime you would like to share.
I will try and take some pictures soon. But after seeing some of the other gardens posted. I am hesitant about it. Mine isn't even in the same ball park as ya'lls.
Don't compare your garden to anyone elses. It will stand on it's own merit and I'm thinking it will be great. I have very little luck growing anything in containers, especially here where it is so hot and dry so anyone who can grow herbs and veggies in containers is awe inspiring to me. I find myself comparing mine to Sjoerd's and Netty's all the time and come up waaaaaay short. I just have to stop doing that.....someday.
Welcome from Texas. We had a summer but I can't say how good it was. It was rather hot and humid. I'm from Arizona, though moved there from Wisconsin. My son grows everything in containers on his patio and does very well at it. Not every garden has to be in the ground. dooley
