Hi guys, I have a patch of dirt in front of my apartment that is just dying for some attention. I live in Las Vegas and am hoping to make a nice little spot out front. I have to be careful to pick some good flowers that don't need a lot of water because I am irresponsible and always at work. It is lovely to be here and I am sure to learn a ton about how to make my pad more lively with some plants!
Hi Abby and a hearty welcome to GardenStew You can start a new thread giving more details about your planting environment along with the types of plants you like and we surely can help you get started and perfect your gardening space. Enjoy meeting everyone here
Hey Abby. Welcome from Tennessee. I remember the first time I went to Vegas. I hopped off the plane and thought I'd stepped in front of the plane's exhaust I got hit with such a blast of hot air. Nope, turned out it was just the Vegas heat! I also won some money my first time there too....that was the point at which I realized I was NOT a gambler....I pocketed half my winnings and continued to bet with the rest. Glad you're here.
Hi Abby. Welcome to GardenStew! I lived outside Vegas for a couple of years so I can understand the challenges of gardening in that area. With your work schedule I'd stick with plants that aren't too demanding about water. There's some pretty plants, without thorns, Salvia Greggi, Bluemist spirea, Lantana, cape plumbago, and desert Ruella are a few. Check at a good nursery and they can tell you a lot about what would work for you.
