Hi, I'm new to this forum, I've never before approached groups like this. Just a month ago I got a new pooch, a cute little Golden Retriever. With her waging all day behind me I feel like "Mary had a little pooch". I need some help about her bed. With all the amount of hair she has, I don't know whether I should go for some nice warm thick bed or something light and cooler. Hoping for some helpful replies from pet-lovers like you all.

Hi! I don't know about the bed, but if you don't have the Furminator you need it. I have two german shep. and you would not believe the diff. I thought one of them didn't shed much because I never got much out brushing. My vet let me try one out (got to love small towns) I would have paid twice the $30 it cost. Good Luck with the bed, mine just EAT them  .

Hello Ashlee, welcome to the Stew. [IMG]
It's a very friendly group, so please feel free to jump in anywhere.

Congratulations on finding a new fur buddy,
it sounds like she has really bonded to you.
Goldens are such loyal friends. :-D

Hmmm . . . what sort of bedding?
Well, I guess that like for humans, that's an individual preference sort of choice.
What seems to be her favorite "laying around" spot now?
Does she seem to like to cool her tummy on your tile kitchen floor,
or do you more often find her snuggled up on your sofa?
Maybe you could take a cue from that.

Go to Pet's Mart she can go in and try them out. It also helps when she needs collars I all ways get one to big or to small. If you go get a Pet's Mart card, it's not a cc it just gives you discounts, every little bit helps.

    Hi there Ashlee. :-D

Here's a website for you to take a look at. It will give you an idea of what kind of dog beds are available in the market place at the moment.

    http://www.petemporium.co.uk/acatalog/index.html

When you first get a puppy you want to do the very best you can for them, but remember, they teethe just like children. I'd give her a couple of old blankets to sleep on to begin with as she may well chew a new bed or soil it. Once she's trained up a bit and has stopped teething then you can go out a get a special bed that she can call her own.

I hope you'll take some photographs of the new edition to your family to let us see. Golden retrievers are such happy, lovable and friendly dogs and you're going to have many, many years of fun with her I'm sure.

    Hi Ashlee
Welcome to the stew from southern Ontario!
If your dog is spoiled rotten like mine, she'll be sleeping on your feet at the foot of your bed :D

Welcome Ashlee, can't wait to see pics of your pooch. I'll bet she is cute. And yes Netty, that is where they like to sleep.

Welcome from West Tennessee. My German Shepherds have fat stuffed beds with removable covers for winter. I run the vacum right over them to get the hair off and pop them in the laundry whenever. In summer I take them out and put thin washable scatter rugs in those same spots for them. Also-Fabreze is your friend! They have a pet formula even. 8)

Welcome to the stew from Fl. Everyone here is very nice and helpful. Congrates on the puppy. I would definitely get a bed with a slip cover on it. We would love to see pic's of her.
