Hi PJ, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. We have several members who are gardening in Michigan, maybe even some of your neighbors What kind of gardening do you prefer....veggies, herbs, flowers?
LilyJunkie I'm from Grand Haven - west Michigan! You probably know right where it is. I love all gardening. I have an herb garden, a wildflower bed, a flower garden(perennial), a shade garden (most of my property is in the woods), a bog garden in the center of the shade garden, a small veggie garden that doesn't do so well - needs more sun, and this year I've begun planting, and encouraging the resident plants, that are native to west Michigan. I'm also for the first time, pulling the invasives that I've allowed to take over. This year's focus will be Garlic Mustard. It's really spreading in the open areas on the property. At least I can eat it! Last year I bcame a Master Gardener, and helped start a program for the local students that teaches the same things I learned on a simpler level. The children's program took much more time than I expected, and now as it begins this month I will be serving it as an Advanced Master Gardener, because of all the hours I logged writing or revising curriculum. And you know what? I feel like I still don't know diddly squat about gardening! LOL! Oh! And I want to come see you in Scotland! Even the name West Lothian sounds like an adventure! (I'm descended from the Fleming line).
Welcome from Illinois. My maiden name was Fleming and we are Scot/Irish. Enjoy your time with us. wannabe

Welcome to the Stew from the Norwegian west coast. Sounds like you've got your hands full with the program and your gardens. I'd love to see some photos of your bog garden, shade garden, flower patch and everything else, pretty please? I love photos.
Hello PJAdams! From Maryland -- and also descended from a Fleming line (made their way from Ireland). How about that? I hope you enjoy yourself and share some of the stuff you learned in Master Gardener class too.
I do! Grand Haven is beautiful. I am originally from Kalamazoo but have spent many summer days between Holland, South Haven and St. Joe. Your program sounds great and I am sure a lot of work. Just as the others I look forward to hearing about your gardening and seeing pictures
