    Hi all,

Sorry to reveal that this new 'member' is a spammer :( I left this topic up to highlight this. The spammers are becoming much more crafty unfortunately.

I will write a topic very soon on a serious note (don't worry it's not that serious ;)) but I want to highlight some problems that have been plaguing the community of late i.e. increase of spammers and lack of new members. It will be an interesting read.

    Spammers eh

    I thought it might be Frank.I only wrote a short welcome .I wasn't sure.I
usually notice the icq deal and feel it is spam.I thought maybe not when others were welcoming him.

What I wonder is why they always go to the jokes/games threads... same problem at my site. We had one come through that filled in the blank of the name of the forum, etc. ("I think (name of forum) is great!")... very irritating. I am hoping school break being over soon they will ease off a little, been a regular flood during the holidays.

One thing I found that helps is if they are "iffy" somehow but I'm not sure I google for their handle or opening line...if I find it splattered all over lots of random forums, they go out the "spam shute".

Spammer, eh? Then I shall wave something other than my hand. [IMG]

Well, [IMG] more the fool, me for not catching on.
Looking forward to your informational thread, Frank.
Clearly, I need to sharpen up my [IMG] loser-recognition skills.

Prim I have used similar spam-fighting techniques with the handle too :) I detest the fill in the blanks spam too.

Zuzu thank you for the 'special' salute to spam :)
