I've been a volunteer with the Forest Service the last four years in the Los Padres National Forest, located in southern California. We meet in the Ojai District office and maintain the trails in the Sespe Wilderness area. Today was one of the events and it was beautiful. The Sycamore trees were yellowy gold and the Cottonwood trees along the stream were also bathed in color. Along the trail were Orange Fuchsias/Zauschneria and the White Buckthorn was also blooming. It was the one day, I didn't bring my camera and now I regret it because as we climbed up the canyon and looked out over the Pacific ocean, a picture of it would have been nice to have since the view was gorgeous The weather is changing and we are expecting two wet storm fronts to move in and the stream that we crossed over several times today, will soon be a rushing torrent. I'm uploading a photo from last month's event which was along a trail, parallel to the Sespe Creek. moderator's note: removed website link, see point 1.1 of usage rules Buckwheat/Eriogonum & Rabbit Bush (I don't know the botanical name) ( photo / image / picture from sespegal's Garden )
Beautiful country. The silvers and depth of colors are a refreshing change from the shades of greens we get up here. Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful rugged landscape. You're very lucky to have such wonderful countryside you work in. :-D
That is a beautiful, beautiful part of the country... I hope you'll share some more of your pictures.
My Sespe pictures To all of you who have commented on my two pictures of the Sespe Wilderness area, thanks for the nice words. Of course, I do have a garden at my home but its done completely in native plants. And you can now see where my inspiration came from. I love wilderness and nature and tried to create a little bit of it in my front yard. I will be sharing photos of it needless to say, as I'm passionate about it. Have a great Sunday!
