I think I have a type of cabbage worm, maybe cabbage looper larvae. However the broccoli and peppers are being eaten too. I found one worm that was gray on top, yellow underneath and had brown stripes on sides. I've picked them off, but don't want to use insecticide on these plants. Any suggestions? Also some of my tomato leaves have curled together and I've found tiny black larvae inside. Help!
Can you make some pics, GG? If you don't want to spray those cabbages and peppers--you'll have to pluck those worms off by hand. That's what I do anyway. If you could find a way to feed thesae worms to the birds at your feeder...they might get the idea and go looking in your veg by themselves. Y'never know.
I will if I have any plants left by tomorrow. These are voracious little buggers. I have examined all leaves but only found three. They seem to be in all parts of the garden. I'm thinking they are larvae of some moth family. Can't find them on the web. Gardengater
Well, I'll bet if you can take a pic of one of them, someone on here will surely know what kind it is. --but I can see that finding all of them is the main task for you. 'Little' onslaughts like that make just me wild.
Yes, it is the voracious Looper. I found a more mature one today. I'm picking them off for now, but might consider dusting them if I find more. Do you have similar pests in W.Friesland? Gardengater
Yes indeedy... we sure do. To avoid all these, I use "enviromesh" to cover the brassica plants from the offset. Over here, its the only way to guarantee a sucessful crop. Enviromesh is also good for carrot fly, white fly, aphids, the cabbage butterfly and cabbage root fly. --All this and yet it lets light and water through and it wilkl protect some plants when there is a light frost.

Well gardengater, I sure wish you luck with the worm situation. It can be quite a problem. I have tried all sorts of nets with a variety of hole size, but the enviromest was the only thing that I have found that works reliably. BTW, I edited my response just above your last response because when I read it, I noticed that the word order was wrong. My apologies. I hope that you could understand what I was trying to say in spite of my poor typing and grammar.
