Finally,I have some pictures to share :D

We stayed in a tiny hamlet of no more than 20 houses in a cottage owned by The National Trust. The NT owns this whole block of 3 cottages,a post Office/Shop and Pub(36 steps from our door to the pub :D )

Cwmdu(pronounced Cumdee) sits in beautiful countryside just a little north of the Breacon Beacons National Park.

The main reason for our stay in the area was the fact that I had entered a quilt in a show at some beautiful gardens nearby-Cae Hir. I'll tell about them in another post.

Sadly it poured down on the final day ofthe exhibition but they had put the quilts in plastic to protect them. This is my entry.

Are we interested? Now let me think. :headscratch: Of course we are - bring them on!!
What lovely countryside and gardens. What a pity it rained on the last day though.
I really love your quilt and want to hear how you got on with it at the exhibition. It looks as though you put an awful lot of work into it.

The countryside is a lot like my Irish area, very beautiful but not as hilly. No matter where I go in the world nothing beats countryside views like this :)
Thanks for sharing your Wales shots KM. Your quilt is very cheerful and well made!

    Hello Quilty!

Now, first of all Karin--I liked the beginning where you showed the little row of NT buildings and the countryside...sort of setting the scene for the rest of your posting.
I enjoyed reading your beginning words and the captions.

The quilts looked interesting and done in a modern way. Modern patterns, I mean. I do not know what sort of stitching you used...or even if you sewed your works by hand or with a machine.

Speaking of patterns--I could not help but notice windmills being featured on a quilt or two. Perhaps they are meant to be Welsh mills, but because windmills are a mainstay of the rural landscape here, I am used to seeing them everywhere, and so they sprung-out for me when I viewed your foto's. It was nice seeing the windmill featured in the quilting. I also did not miss the the colour--t'was a bit like Delft blue.

The pond, the grounds and plants all were summed-up in the end to wind up a particularly delightful contribution.

I enjoyed this thread very much.

p.s.-- that last foto, the one featuring the menhir-like stones--were they placed like that by the hands of the landscaper, or is the origin more historical?

p.p.s.-- Isn't it nice to have an assistent?

I'm glad you liked my pictures.:)
Believe me,I have LOTS more to share when I get time to process them..

I'll explain all about the quilts when I have the other Cae Hir(we went back on a dry day!) pictures but Sjoerd, there was a theme of the Netherlands this year because the garden was created by a Dutchman over the last 30 years-hence the windmills.

Ahhhh...I see, KM. There was a Dutch theme. Well, things fall into place a little.
Well, aside from the Dutch theme, I found the quilt patterns and presentations that you showed quite interesting and attractive to the eye.

BTW--in your quilt: what is the significance of the music bars in your quilt? (upper left-hand corner panel)
