Donna, love your hollyhocks! Like Toni, I just can't get them going here so I'll enjoy yours as they grow and bloom.

Donna, the hollyhocks are so pretty! Did you start them from seeds? Mine are about 6" tall, hope they will bloom next year. However, the picture on the seed packet is different; it looks more like little peonies tied together on a stem.

Green fingers, Yes, I started them from seed last fall and kept them in my cold frame all winter. Some of them are blooming the first year. Which I was very surprised. What colors do you have? Maybe we can swap seeds this fall.

I've never tried them... not even sure if they would survive down here. Sure is a pretty color!

Green Fingers, the Chater's Double Hollyhock blooms are such a full bloom that they do look a lot like Peony blooms.

Donna,Toni, I looked at the seed packet that I saved for reference and it says "Burpee Hollyhock Fordhook Giants Mix Seeds". I started them this Spring they are about 4-6" tall and the days to bloom is 180. So I guess they will bloom next Spring. I would share the picture and be happy to share the seeds if you like any colors. My echinacea, white and yellow cone flowers and Shashta daisies that I stated last Spring are about to bloom. However, black eyed susan, painted daisies, blanket flowers and some dianthus verities did not make it through the hard winter we had. :(

Green Fingers--they are gorgeous. I have never succeeded in growing hollyhocks. I am envious.

I love them too. I started some black ones and my wonderful sweet hubby used a weed killer on them by accident. Now I have none till I start more seeds. :'(
