It's noon here and the sun is out and we have some blue sky! The thermometer is reading 45 deg. F, but that is kind of misleading. The sun is shining on the pickup unit for it. But it sure makes me feel good. What a pick up for spirits that have been clouded over for the past month! I think it will be steaks on the grill for tonight!

Could you send some of that nicer weather my way? Day#3 and still no power - haven't seen any line crews in the area so they haven't even assessed the damage. It is gray with 38 degrees but maybe some of the snow will begin to melt...

One of the neighbors just called and wants to tap into the generator. We are afraid power won't be restored until the end of the week.

Oh PlantGoddess, I'm so sorry for you and neighbors -- no power... Thank goodness you have your generator. Be careful... hoping your power is back on soon.

Thanks, MaryAnn. Right now we are hoping the wind doesn't pick up. There are so many broken limbs dangling from the trees that it could delay the crews even further. There is another snowstorm approaching the area, but it's too soon to tell whether it will get us again. The next big issue will be flooding as the snow begins to melt. Just hope there won't be any rain for a while. We are exhausted!

Congratulations on your warmth, Capt. Oh, dear, Lynn, hang in there. *hugs* Power outs are just not as fun as it used to be when we were children.

Lynn, hope you have a slow melt like us. We have been getting up into the low 40's and have maybe an inch of snow melt per day. That way the creeks and streams don't get over welmed. The little bit the rise seems to be running off over night. Out of the 30+ inches we have had this month is now down to about 4 inches where it isn't drifted. This morning we shoveled out a lot of the end of the driveway where the plows had filled us in. I went out and looked a little bit ago and it is melted down to the gravel.

Lynn I really hope the crews can get to you and that your power will be up and running soon. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the storm passes you over and that you have no more damage.

We are due to have more snow until the end of next week but now everything is freezing. :( Still, at least we have power so I shouldn't complain.

Just found out this evening on the news that we have had 69.9 inches of snow this season. A normal average season is 18 in.

That is a LOT of snow! I have no idea of our totals thus far, and just hope whatever it turns out to be will be the last of it.:fingerscrossed:

**We had a line crew and tree cutters on the road late this afternoon. They said we ought to have power tomorrow, but they were surprised by the amount of damage in less than one mile. While they were sizing things up, another tree came down and took out a pole. The line men were from CT and the tree cutters from Indiana!

CK glad for the warming temps. You all have had the records broken so it is now time for Mother Nature to give a break in the weather.

So sorry PG for the outage. Glad you have a generator. When it drags on it becomes a major mental health issue (for me anyway). When we had a major ice storm several years ago, on the 10th day I packed my bags and went to a hotel with a generator. Guess I am a major wimp. Hope your power is back on tomorrow if not sooner.
