What home remedy can I use for brown spots on my tomatoes, I guess I have had to much rain. Thank you for all your help. Margie :'( moderator's note: added a more descriptive title to topic
It really would depend on where the brown spots are ie the leaves, stem or tomato fruits. Also how big are they? A picture would be really helpful to people with the answers for you. Dont panic just yet though!
margie, If you are concerned that you have a fungal problem, pictures would help, but here is what my Rodales book says, " Japanese researchers have found that baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) controls powdery mildew and other mildews when sprayed on plants at weekly intervals at a concentration of 1t. per 2 qts. of water. Not only does the soda prevent fungal spores from germinating and stop development of the disease, but it even appears to help the plant repair the fungus damaged tissue." this is the best I could find for you for "home remedy" We spray with a copper solution for fungal control. Ortho probably makes one that is convenient to find. Ours is the Bonide brand. I'm not sure where it is available. More likely a garden center, we get ours at a greenhouse supply place.
