I found this guy just relaxing yesterday so I snapped him. Then he tired of the papparazi and pushed the camera back into my face!

Back off with that camera! ( photo / image / picture from Frank's Garden )

Only joking, he was quite calm about the whole thing. I'm really bummed I messed up the focus on the second shot!

    Good shots though, Frank!
That is a colourful one and he just LOOKS so interesting. I have always found this particular sort of insect (and its relatives) so interesting to observe.

So glad y'all like grasshoppers. I'll ship you any amount you want, postage paid!
Our hot and dry conditions are ideal for 'hoppers, and we are overrun! (Texas has 119 different kinds of grasshoppers, and each has taken up residence at Red Gate Farm.)

    Cool shots.

Marlingardner, you can keep your hoppers--or we could ship them someplace else, say the moon or something. I don't need any more hoppers here. I could use some big praying mantises though. I have had huge ones other summers but so far only a few babies have turned up this year. I hope they are just hiding out and will appear to eat the bad guys soon. ;)

I have not seen a grasshopper in years I like the second shot, the hopper seems to know what you are up to.
