Went looking for plants to put in my little 5 gallon terrarium. I found a couple of things, Hypoestes phyllosachy (Polka Dot Plant) and Hoya "mini waxleaf" lacunosa. Not sure if they are "perfect" for the terrarium, but they were the right size.
I still want to get at least one more plant, and then I'll take photos.

Also found these cute ceramic vases/containers on a markdown rack. The 4 inch ones were 99 cents and the 5 inch ones were $3. I have no clue as to what to do with them... but I just couldn't pass them up!

And speaking of markdowns... couldn't resist this Zebra "Stripes Forever" Aphelandra squarrosa.

Plus they had these leftover mini-pine trees for $1.25. I'll see how long I can keep it alive in a pot. Why did I buy this?

    :headscratch:

Very nice. Now don't forget to go out and get some moss from your yard or the woods. It's a great ground cover.

Are we going to see pictures of this little world?

Your terrarium will be a fine collection of plants. I'm sure you will do it justice. Nice bargains too. Eagerly waiting for pix.

Barb.... no moss growing around here, but I have some "store-bought" stuff to use once it's all set up.

Deanna... I'm really not a big shopper... except for garden stuff. Yep... maybe it is a good thing to keep us separated a bit! :D

Jerry...thanks for the vote of confidence. Hopefully by the weekend it will be presentable enough for photos.

Nice finds Cheryl!! I love those pots you picked up. Do they have drainage holes in them? If not maybe it would be a good idea to drill some in readiness for the plants you choose to put in them. I really like to find bargain plants and accessories for the garden but, like you, don't enjoy other types of shopping much.

The pots don't have drainage holes. :(
Maybe I'll let Hubby try drilling a hole in one of them.
If it's too difficult, I could always just put a plastic container inside and dump out the excess water. Or... they could just be used as vases. I'm sure I'll figure out somehow to use them.

Gorgeous plant and pots. You went to Lowe's didn't you? They sell those pots as plant pot covers to be used just like you said...put the plant in it's plastic pot inside and dump out excess water after watering. That's a really good price, they cost about $5+ during the spring and summer.

Yes Toni... they were at Lowe's. It was funny... the "regular" color ones were still full price, but the "bright" ones were at the back of the store with marked down stuff like drawer organizers and Christmas stuff.
Guess I'm the only one that like the bright colors! :-D
